Licensing Program

Applying for a License:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the use of The Ohio State University's identifying marks! Please complete the Ohio State Licensing Proposal in addition to the Product Submission Form in order to have your products reveiwed at our monthly licensing review meeting. Completed applications are reviewed the second Tuesday of each month, and you will be notified of our decision in writing within 7 to 10 business days following the review. Review decisions are not given over the phone.

Ohio State operates a selective licensing program, and not all applicants are awarded a license. If you are offered a license agreement, you will be required to obtain standard product liability insurance, join the Fair Labor Association and pay an annual advance against royalties. Our current royalty rate is 8%.

Application Requirements:

• Completed, signed licensing proposal (No fee to apply)
• Sample Submission Form for each product to be reviewed
• Non-Ohio State sample product
• Marketing Plan
• Financial Statement
• Review by Licensing Advisory Board

Criteria of Product Evaluation:

• Quality
• Marketability
• Liability
• Appropriateness
• Availability of similar products through existing licensees
• Company stability
• Experience in licensing
